WAM Technical Lead - Trinidad & Tobago

The starting salary package for this position is £78,378 GBP per annum (approx. $105,959 USD) including all allowances.

About the Trinidad & Tobago programme:

The MAG Caribbean programme plays a key role in building national and regional capacity to address firearm-related violence, enhance public safety, and promote long-term stability across the region.  The Caribbean region experiences some of the highest levels of violence in the world, with violent death rates nearly three times the global average. Firearms are used in over half of all homicides, presenting a serious challenge to safety and security across the region.

In partnership with CARICOM IMPACS, MAG is working to strengthen weapons and ammunition management across the Caribbean. Through a series of technical assessments, MAG has identified critical gaps and priority areas where targeted support and training are most needed. Building on this foundation, MAG will continue its vital work in the region by expanding assessments and training to additional CARICOM Member States, while also providing technical assistance in weapons destruction and management.

About the role:

As the WAM Technical Manager, you will act as MAG’s lead technical expert for Weapons and Ammunition Management throughout the Caribbean. Your responsibilities will include overseeing assessments, training, destruction operations, and the rehabilitation of storage facilities, ensuring all activities comply with MAG standards and international best practices. You will play a key role in building national and regional capacity by delivering high-quality training, mentoring government counterparts, and collaborating closely with CARICOM IMPACS. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, diplomacy and strong operational leadership to ensure safe, effective, and impactful WAM operations across the region.

About you:

As the ideal candidate, you will bring proven expertise in Weapons and Ammunition Management, with experience in Physical Security and Stockpile Management, operational oversight, and compliance on behalf of a national authority. You will have a strong track record of leading and motivating diverse teams, delivering technical training, and mentoring others, while working effectively in challenging or stand-alone environments.

You will hold relevant qualifications such as EOD 3+ (or equivalent) and possess broad technical knowledge of WAM operations across land, air, and naval ordnance. Skilled in developing and applying SOPs, managing operations, and contributing to technical proposals and reports, you will combine strong organisational and analytical abilities with excellent communication skills. You will demonstrate commitment to MAG’s humanitarian mandate, working with innovation, integrity, and resilience.

Written and spoken proficiency in English is essential, with French or Spanish considered an advantage for some activities.
