“It is a difficult job, and not everyone can do it,” she says. “But we have shown that men and women can do it equally as well.”
Najat El Hamri
Middle East and Europe Regional DirectorNajat El Hamri brings in over 17 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sector.
It is clear from everyone I have met and everything I have seen already that at the heart of MAG is a collective of people with dedication for supporting the communities afflicted by conflict. It is a privilege to join a family making a real and lasting difference in people's lives.
Technical Field Manager, IraqSalaam has been with MAG for 26 years. Today he manages nine weapons destruction teams, two mine detection dog teams, two mechanical teams and three community liaison teams.
"Without doubt the greatest achievement is when I return to places that were cleared years ago and think about the lives that have been saved."
International Communications Manager"Landmine clearance is a prerequisite to any normal activity in so many areas after conflict. People can't safely farm, they can't safely build a house and their children can't safely play. Aid agencies can't drill water wells, can't build schools and in many cases can't deliver medical assistance or food aid. All of these factors show why MAG’s work is so important, and has a great impact."
Evaristo Luis Cambembe
Community Liaison ManagerEvaristo started working with MAG in Angola in 2003 due to his own experience of being uprooted by the conflict and seeking refuge abroad. The Angolan conflict also claimed his father, brother and sister. On returning, he was determined to help others who had been through similar experiences.
“I joined MAG just to save lives and to help people know how to live safely”
Regional Representative for Gambia & Senegal."I started to work for MAG in February 2015 in Sahel-West Africa. Over the past year, I have been able to work on many aspects of programme management, in diverse environments and with people of different backgrounds. It has been very enriching on a professional but also on a personal level."
