Technical Field Manager – Team Leader (HMA) – Senegal
The starting salary package for this position is £71,528 GBP per annum (approx. $96,698 USD) including all allowances.
About the Senegal programme:
MAG has been working in Senegal since 2014, initially supporting the Senegalese Armed Forces with safe destruction of obsolete ammunition, secure storage, and capacity-building. Since 2021, MAG has expanded into Humanitarian Mine Action in Casamance, at the request of the National Mine Action Centre (CNAMS). In Casamance, MAG supports CNAMS through training, strengthening information management systems, and conducting non-technical surveys and risk education to better understand contamination and raise awareness among affected communities. Casamance remains contaminated with mines and explosive remnants of war, limiting access to land and livelihoods. Through the new CLEAR-Casamance project, MAG will reduce these risks, release safe land, and restore access to productive areas. This will support recovery, enable displaced families to return safely, and contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
About the role:
MAG Senegal is looking for a Technical Field Manager – Team Leader who will play a key role in leading MAG’s humanitarian mine action operations in Casamance, Senegal. Under the management of the Regional Programme Manager and technical supervision of the Regional Technical Operations Manager, you will oversee the safe and effective delivery of survey, clearance, battle area clearance, demolition, and risk education activities. You will manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary technical team, ensure compliance with IMAS, NMAS, and MAG’s SOPs, and guarantee the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in all operations. The role combines operational planning, technical oversight, and team leadership, while also supporting national capacity building through targeted training. You will also maintain close coordination with local authorities, partners, and communities, ensuring that MAG’s activities are responsive, well-coordinated, and aligned with national mine action priorities.
About you:
As Technical Field Manager – Team Leader, you are an experienced HMA professional with an IMAS EOD Level 3 qualification (EOD 3+ desirable) and proven experience in implementing mine action operations (NTS, TS, BAC, demolition). You bring a strong track record in leading and motivating diverse technical teams, delivering training, and working independently in challenging field environments. Highly organized and detail-oriented, you are confident in planning, supervising, and reporting on operations while ensuring strict compliance with safety and quality standards. Your strong communication skills, in both French and English, enable you to liaise effectively with colleagues, authorities, and partners at all levels. With a commitment to MAG’s humanitarian mission, you are flexible, proactive, and solutions driven. You thrive in cross-cultural contexts, can remain calm under pressure, and are motivated to strengthen national capacity while ensuring operational excellence in the field.
