International Medic, Chad - Fixed Term – 12 Months
The starting salary package for this position is £35,116 GBP / approx. $48,518 USD including all allowances.
About the Chad programme:
More than 30 years of civil war - including the Libyan invasion - has resulted in significant landmine/UXO contamination and large-scale population displacement in Chad.
MAG has been working in Chad since 2004 and has carried out demining operations in the Lake and Tibesti regions since 2014. MAG has also implemented weapons management and destruction projects across the country, working closely with the Chadian authorities to reduce the risks and impacts of unplanned explosions and reduce the danger of weapons proliferation to civilian populations.
About the role:
MAG is recruiting for an International Medic for our Chad programme on a 12-month fixed basis to provide medical and emergency support to clearance and ammunition demolition operations in humanitarian settings affected by conflict. Working alongside a Technical Field Manager, you will apply the medical drills and procedures you’ve been trained in, ensuring work is carried out safely and in line with MAG SOPs, national standards, and International Mine Action Standards. You will also be responsible for training and monitoring locally recruited medics to ensure standards are maintained. You will play a critical role in protecting lives, supporting teams operating in high‑risk environments where professionalism and calm decision‑making matter every day. Alongside medical support, you will help maintain high hygiene standards in operational and accommodation areas, contributing to team wellbeing.
About you:
You are a qualified Medical Doctor or Senior Paramedic with Advanced Trauma Life Support training and substantial experience delivering pre‑hospital emergency care in remote environments. You bring proven experience of working in developing or humanitarian contexts, with a strong understanding of the operational and resource constraints this entails. You are confident managing, training, and supporting locally recruited staff, with experience in healthcare and hygiene planning, and clear, accurate report writing. Highly organised and calm under pressure, you can prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain the highest quality standards. You communicate with clarity and credibility, both face‑to‑face and in writing, and take a proactive, problem‑solving approach. Areas of operation are often remote with basic amenities, so you will need to be able to live and work effectively in challenging environments.
The successful candidate will need to have fluent French language skills to be able to work in this role, with English language skills also desirable.
