This is a fixed term position initially for 12 months, with possible extension, ideally beginning in July 2025. This post is subject to MAG receiving confirmation of continued funding.

The salary package for this position is £42,860 GBP per annum (approx. $47,000 USD), including all allowances.

About the role:

The Senior Information Management Manager (SIMM) will be responsible for the provision of specialist information management (IM) systems technical advice and IM staff capacity building initiatives, to overhaul, update, and improve the MAG Lao IM System into a modern, fit-for-purpose, product. The overall objective is to support the deployment of OMIS / Global IMS and ensure its compatibility with IMSMA Core.

The SIMM will be responsible for ensuring that the programme’s IM System can efficiently and effectively, collect, validate, analyse all operational data to meet all internal and external operational information reporting requirements of the programme. The SIMM will need to coordinate and collaborate with programme internal departments; information management team, operational teams, grants and communications team and external entities, such as MAG’s Global Programme Information Management Unit (PIM) and the Lao National Regularity Authority (NRA) Information Management (IM) department. The SIMM shall ensure that operational information is presented to operational decision makers and other stakeholders that require progress on operational outputs, deliverables, and donor reports, in an updated and compatible format that is accurate, validated and quality control checked in order to uphold MAG’s reputation for transparency and integrity.

About you:

The successful candidate must have experience in relevant IM/GIS operational approaches and methodologies, this includes strong skills working with ESRI ArcGIS and related tools (ArcGIS Online/Enterprise; GIS mobile and desktop applications) and demonstratable experience in managing various databases (FGBD, SQL DB) and with designing data collection forms and surveying tools. You will also need experience in undertaking quality assurance and monitoring and evaluation of IM/GIS projects and have experience in spatial analysis applied to performance analysis mapping and contamination mapping, for example with flooding or earthquakes. Experience with programme language (Python, SQL) and with working with IMSMANG and knowledge of IMSAMA CORE and ArcGIS Enterprise is desirable.

The postholder will be innovative, proactive and committed to working collaboratively to improve data management practices across the programme. You will be able to establish and develop effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally and have the ability and experience to train and develop staff in IM techniques. In addition, you will possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills, with the ability to plan and coordinate activities and projects. 

About the Laos programme:

Laos has the unenviable title of being the most bombed country in the world per capita. For nearly a decade, Laos was subjected to heavy US bombing as part of the wider war in Indochina. Working across Xieng Khouang and Khammouane provinces since 1994, MAG has directly helped more than 1,145,000 people to live safer lives, free from danger and fear. Our teams have cleared more than 130 square kilometres of land in Laos, removing and destroying more than 340,000 bombs. In addition, MAG has delivered more than 4,500 risk education sessions to around 153,000 people, helping them to stay safe until land is cleared.

  • Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
