The total starting package for this position is £58,365.20 GBP per annum (approx. $77,917 USD) including basic salary and allowances.
About the Ukraine programme:
Since the Russian invasion of 24thFebruary 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missile, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG responded to the crisis in 2022 and now employs nearly 300 staff in our Ukraine programme, in a range of operational and support/administrative activities, with further scale-up planned during 2025. The programme has a representation office in Kyiv, and operational offices in Mykolaiv (also covering accessible areas of Kherson) and now in Kharkiv.
About the role:
The is a newly created role to provide critical operational financial support to MAG’s partners in Ukraine, ensuring timely, compliant, and effective financial management and reporting. You'll work closely with MAG’s in-country Senior Management Team to support partner capacity-building, lead on financial risk management, and contribute to project planning and donor reporting. This is a hands-on role requiring flexibility, precision, and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders and contexts.
This role reports directly to the Country Director (CD) of Ukraine pending the arrival of our new Partnerships & Localisation Manager.
About you:
You should have experience working and living and working abroad, preferably in sensitive conflict or post-conflict settings, and possess the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure. You must be an experienced finance professional with at least three years of relevant experience, ideally within a humanitarian or development setting. You’ll have a strong background in financial planning, reporting, donor compliance, and budget development, with the ability to communicate effectively and mentor partners and teams. You’ll need to be analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with strong Excel and financial systems skills. A professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) is desirable, as is a strong commitment to MAG’s humanitarian mission.
You will demonstrate a proactive approach, adaptability to address evolving needs, and experience within a multicultural work environment. You should be able to demonstrate your experience of finance management within other similar organisations and have proficiency in English, alongside outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Ukrainian/Russian language skills would be an advantage.

- Salary: £58,365.20 GBP per annum including all allowances and this increases with service.
- Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
- Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You will have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year or pro rata if the contract is less than a year
- Flights: MAG provides four international flights home per year (hardship +) (note: pro-rater if your contract is less than a year)
- Insurance: Programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance.
