Community Liaison Manager – Team Leader, Ukraine 

Permanent position 

The total starting package for this position is £52,346 GBP per annum (approx. $70,927USD) including basic salary and allowances. 

About the Ukraine programme: 

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missile, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG responded to the crisis in 2022 and now employs nearly 300 staff in our Ukraine programme, in a range of operational and support/administrative activities, with further scale-up planned during 2025. The programme has a representation office in Kyiv, and operational offices in Mykolaiv (also covering accessible areas of Kherson) and now in Kharkiv. 

About the role: 

MAG is seeking a highly skilled Community Liaison Manager Team Leader (CLM TL) to drive strategic community engagement across its Ukraine programme. Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) and working alongside technical teams and national partners, the CLM TL will lead the design and delivery of impactful community liaison strategies, ensuring alignment with international mine action standards and improving programme effectiveness and reach.   

About you: 

You should have experience living and working abroad, ideally in sensitive conflict or post-conflict environments, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines under pressure. You will bring substantial expertise in designing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating a range of Community Liaison Programmes. Familiarity with mine action will be advantageous, enabling you to quickly build effective relationships with local communities and national authorities. You will have a proven track record of managing diverse teams and mentoring staff. A confident communicator and analytical thinker, you are comfortable navigating complex operational contexts, using evidence to inform decisions, and committed to empowering conflict-affected communities.  The role requires that you are proficient in English and knowledge of Ukrainian would also be advantageous.

  • Remuneration Package: £52,346 GBP per annum including all allowances and this increases with service.  
  • Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.  
  • Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You will have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year or pro rata if the contract is less than a year  
  • Flights: MAG provides four international flights home per year (hardship +) (note: pro-rated if your contract is less than a year) 
  • Insurance: Programme based staff are automatically covered by MAG's comprehensive insurance package including: Personal accident and medical expenses insurance; Death by natural causes insurance and access to 24-hour medical assistance. 

MAG will support the successful applicant with any visa or work permit required, including application, administration and costs, however applicants will need to be able to obtain these within a reasonable time period to be considered for the role, due to programme needs.
