Capacity Development and Localisation Manager, Myanmar.
The starting salary package for this position is £36,928 GBP / approx. $49,370 USD including all allowances.
About the role:
MAG is seeking a Capacity Development and Localisation Manager to support our efforts to strengthen local leadership and build sustainable community engagement in Myanmar. Based in Yangon, you’ll support local staff and local partners to deliver inclusive, sustainable community liaison activities—like risk education and non-technical surveys—across conflict-affected regions. You’ll be responsible for strengthening local leadership, building capacity, and ensuring that community voices shape how we work. This role offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to long-term change, working in partnership with people living with the daily threat of explosive hazards.
About you:
You will need proven experience of working in community engagement, protection, or education, and be confident designing and delivering training that builds local capacity. Prior experience in managing diverse teams and coordinating activities in humanitarian settings is also essential for this role. You will also need to understand and be committed to inclusive programming, safeguarding, and the importance of local leadership.
It’s an advantage if you’ve worked in Myanmar or have experience in mine action, particularly in Explosive Ordnance Risk Education or Community Liaison, but this is not essential.
About the Myanmar programme:
Following decades of armed conflict, Myanmar has one of the highest levels of landmine contamination in the world. MAG has worked in Myanmar since 2013, but since the coup in February 2021, there has been an increase in violent conflict, shelling and militarisation which has increased the vulnerabilities to conflict and explosive ordnance (EO). As there is no national agreement allowing the clearance of landmines, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) remains the best way of reducing the casualty rates from mines and other explosive ordnance at present.
