MAG was pleased to meet with the President of the Republic of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, at an official ceremony inaugurating a new armoury to improve the security of seized weapons and strengthen national security.
The event took place at the General Directorate for War Materials (DIGEMABEL), where MAG presented the refurbishment and upgrading of an armoury. Government and army officials attended the ceremony, alongside the United States Chargé d’Affaires.
The upgrades, delivered with the support of the United States Government, improve the secure storage and management of controlled weapons and ammunition and contribute to Paraguay’s efforts to combat organised crime.
During the visit, President Peña and officials reviewed DIGEMABEL’s recent progress, including building improvements, new specialist equipment, and wider efforts to modernise and strengthen the institution.
In Paraguay and beyond, MAG is committed to working alongside partners to provide technical expertise in safe weapons and ammunition storekeeping and management and reduce the risk of harm to local communities from the threat posed by the spread of illicit weapons.
