MAG supporter and fundraiser, Barry Bassett, has published his memoirs Full Experience Living and is donating 10 per cent of proceeds to fund our lifesaving work.

Barry has been supporting MAG since 2013, inspired by the incredible story of marathon-runner and landmine survivor Chris Moon.

In the last seven years, Barry has raised over £65,000 for MAG to clear landmines and unexploded bombs around the world.

Barry Basset is the organiser of the 'Superheroes' bike ride

The keen saxophonist started by organising fundraising jazz concerts for MAG but now oversees regular 'superhero' bike rides between London and Bristol and London and Amsterdam.

"It is very easy to be a spectator in life and believe that we are powerless to make an impact at injustices that we see but when we realise that this is not the case," says Barry of his support for MAG. "Our actions can make a real difference to people’s lives."

"I started the Superheroes campaign in 2016 to raise £10,000 and, over three years, we managed to raise £60,000. I have found that it is easy to work hard and achieve real results to support a cause that you feel passionate about.

"For me, helping to clear mines to save innocent lives and in particular, save children's lives spurred me on each year to work harder and raise more money.”

“All of these memories and all of the money raised for this good cause came from a crazy idea and not being prepared to give up.”

Full Experience Living dedicates a chapter to Barry's fundraising efforts. He closes the chapter by ruminating on his experiences raising funds for MAG:

“All of these memories and all of the money raised for this good cause came from a crazy idea and not being prepared to give up.”

Our work saving lives and building safer futures would not be possible without the support of amazing fundraisers like Barry.
