Turkey Syria Earthquake: Emergency Response in Syria

The Kahramanmaras earthquake hit northeast Syria and Turkey in the early hours of the morning on the 6th of February. Over 16,000 people are said to have been killed, 3,000 of those in Syria. Numbers are expected to rise as the search efforts continue.

We have partnered with an organisation who are on the ground in Syria right now to provide immediate relief to local people affected by this earthquake. Your donations will help to fund MAG's supported response with our partner.

Syria is one of the world’s most conflict-affected countries and has witnessed extensive hostilities since the outbreak of civil war in 2011. Large parts of the country, including cities, have been devastated by explosive weapons.

As the situation in Syria evolves, we expect to learn more about the impact that the earthquake may have had on the existing landmines and unexploded bombs in the area and will continue to update you on the situation and how we will respond.
