On Mother’s Day, let’s recognise the love, strength and resilience of the brave MAG women.
Indrani and Chithira wake at 2am each day, do chores and cook food for their families, and then head off to work before dawn.
They’re both single mothers who are part of a MAG team clearing landmines and unexploded bombs left by Sri Lanka’s civil war.
Today, we’re recognising the incredible love, strength and resilience of mums like Indrani and Chithira.
Could you make a Mother’s Day gift to celebrate these brave mums protecting their communities?
Indrani
Indrani remembers how tough it was bringing up her baby alone, after her husband was killed in the war. “People never believed in me, till I joined MAG and started standing on my own legs.”
Today, her daughter’s studying management at university. “Through the income that I earn at MAG, I support her ambition and dreams,” she says. Life is still hard, but Indrani says she forgets her sorrows when she’s with the other women at work.

Chithira
Chithira lives with her grown-up son and daughter. She says: “I have seen and lived through the war, so I feel the responsibility to clear the war remnants from the soil”.
From Sri Lanka to Syria, mums in our teams are working hard to find and remove landmines so their families, friends and neighbours don’t have to live in fear. Can you donate to help them?
