The starting salary package for this position is £55,356 GBP / approx. $69,997.33 USD including all allowances

About the role:

The Programme Manager (PM) will provide in-country, senior level support to the Country Director (CD) with a wide range of externally and internally facing strategic and programme management responsibilities. They will be required to maintain effective relationships and networks with stakeholders, including donors and local, regional and national authorities, in addition to pursuing and developing future opportunities for MAG in Ukraine. This role will be responsible for external communications, business development and people management. The PM will be responsible for leading and building the capacity of their team in these areas. In addition, the postholder will support and where necessary replace the CD in senior level representation of MAG at country level meetings.

About you:

The successful candidate will have worked overseas in an international development setting. You will have extensive experience of developing, supporting and managing projects including implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation and contract compliance. You will have proven expertise in the development of new business, including proposal development, networking and contract negotiations, and experience of having developed successful relationships and negotiated with donors, government bodies, other NGOs and local partners. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels internally and externally will be key to the role. Knowledge of the Mine Action sector is desirable. The Project Manager will be based in our office in Kyiv, with frequent travel nationwide required.

Fluency in English is required, Ukrainian or Russian language knowledge is beneficial.

About the Ukraine programme:

Since the Russian invasion of 24th February 2022, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missile, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG responded to the crisis in 2022 and now employs nearly 200 staff in our Ukraine programme, in a range of operational and support/administrative activities with further scale-up planned during 2024. The programme has a representation office in Kyiv, and operational offices in Mykolaiv (also covering accessible areas of Kherson) and now in Kharkiv.

  • Salary: £55,356 per annum including all allowances and this increases with service.
  • Accommodation: MAG will provide accommodation in-country.
  • Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year
  • Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year
