Country Security Manager, Ukraine
1 year fixed term contract (with possible extension)
The starting salary package for this position is £45,004 per annum (approx. $52,700 USD) including all allowances
About the Ukraine Programme:
Since the Russian invasion of 24th February, Ukraine has been subjected to heavy artillery bombardment, missiles, and air strikes, as well as the use of landmines and cluster munitions. The scale of the conflict and the use of high impact and indiscriminate weapons requires an urgent and extensive response. MAG is in the process of establishing a formal presence in Kyiv following an initial assessment visit in April, and is coordinating with the relevant national authorities, national and international partners, and other key stakeholders to address the needs generated by the presence of explosive ordnance contamination.
About the role:
MAG is seeking a Country Security Manager (CSM) to manage the daily security requirement of the programme including humanitarian access, security and information management, training, incident management, and compliance. The post holder will provide the programme with quality security information and analysis, training, policy and standards guidance, and expert support. The CSM will monitor and assess security conditions and advise the Country Director and Technical Operations Manager as appropriate. The post holder will also be responsible for developing and delivering safety and security training. This is a great opportunity to use your extensive technical knowledge and experience in security management to support an organisation working hard to improve the lives of communities in challenging environments.
You will have considerable experience of security planning and implementation, preferably gained in the context of relief operations in insecure areas. In addition, you will also have experience and knowledge of the Ukrainian context, including high-risk front line exposure in the region or in similar high risk profiles, and the ability to analyse the changing security environment is essential. In addition, you must have proven excellence in communication and liaison skills with an awareness of diplomacy and tact. Areas of operations can be remote with basic amenities, so applicants will need to be able to deal with living and working in challenging environments. Verbal and written English and Ukrainian is essential for this role, with the ability to deliver verbal presentations and written reports in both languages.
