20 month Fixed Term Contract (Subject to funding)

Location: Lebanon

About the Lebanon programme:

MAG has been operational in Lebanon since 2000, conducting impact assessment surveys, delivering Mine Risk Education and clearing landmines, cluster munitions and other unexploded ordnance. Lebanon has an extensive legacy of conflict, and MAG is addressing the contamination left behind across predominantly southern and north-eastern areas of the country. The crisis in neighbouring Syria and movement of populations into Lebanon has made this work only more vital, and MAG continues to support both Lebanese and Syrian communities. Since 2006, MAG Lebanon has cleared more than 17 million square meters of contaminated land and removed more than 35,000 dangerous weapons, benefitting over 1.6 million people.

Since 2017, the programme engaged in a Weapon and Ammunitions Management project to strengthen security and stability in Lebanon by increasing the LAF’s ability to effectively manage and maintain state-held weapons and ammunition.

About the role:

Ensuring the physical security of weapons and ammunition is a crucial part of MAG’s work.  Our Construction Managers play a key part in this, being responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects relating to construction projects. The focus of the Construction Manager’s role will be to ensure quality delivery of the rehabilitation and construction of armouries and ammunitions storage areas.

About you:

The successful candidate will need experience working overseas in developing countries. You will also have experience of managing complex construction projects on time, and within budget. You will be able to demonstrate the coordination of activities of a multidisciplinary team, including contractors and technical staff from a diverse range of backgrounds, ensuring work is delivered to a high quality. You should also have substantial knowledge of the development and evaluation of engineering design and construction contracts, bills of quantities and specifications. You should be willing to take on the challenges of working as part of a flexible and committed team, to save lives in communities which need it most. Strong knowledge of excel and relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD/Autodesk Revit is essential.
