A Statement from Darren Cormack, MAG CEO, on the publication of the UK's International Development White Paper:

"We welcome the focus in the UK’s International Development White Paper on reducing and preventing conflict and violence. Poverty cannot be eradicated, and all the Sustainable Development Goals cannot be reached without addressing conflict and armed violence.

"We are pleased to see the UK’s renewed commitment to champion the aspiration of a landmine free world under the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, protecting the most vulnerable in situations of conflict, unlocking opportunities for development, and supporting communities to recover after conflict.

"In the years ahead, the words in the White Paper need to be backed up with sustained action to drive faster progress toward these ambitious goals – bringing together the UK’s development and diplomatic levers, investing more in conflict prevention & armed violence reduction, and harnessing partnerships at all levels to achieve lasting peace and prosperity."
