Project Manager, Support Services - South Sudan

The total salary package for this position is £36,215 - £39,552* per annum (circa $57,100 - $62,400* USD) including basic salary, per diem and hardship allowance.

Since starting in 1998, MAG's programme in South Sudan has grown rapidly into one of our largest programmes globally.  MAG South Sudan is undertaking a wide range of mine action initiatives and currently has humanitarian mine action projects operating in Greater Equatoria and Jongeli.

Reporting to the Country Director, the Project Manager will be responsible for the provision of the Support Services functions to the programme. This will include responsibility for logistics, procurement, fleet management and administrative functions. Key to this role will be establishing and maintaining appropriate systems to ensure programme compliance with internal policies and procedures in collaboration with MAG HQ, ensuring the effective and efficient implementation of operations in the programme.

The successful candidate will therefore have experience of developing, implementing and managing robust support services systems and processes within a programme, including knowledge of logistics, procurement, fleet management and general programme administration and support.  They will also be able to manage and develop national staff.

In addition the successful candidate will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently. The ability to successfully develop, implement, manage and maintain systems will be key, as will an ability to prioritize a heavy workload to meet deadlines. You will also need to be able to demonstrate an awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner.

  • Leave: We recognise our staff work hard and need the appropriate time out to stay motivated. You'll have a minimum of eight weeks out of the programme per year, with six weeks annual leave and two "Breather Break" weeks per year. Your entitlement to annual leave also rises with service.
  • Flights: MAG provides three international flights home per year, plus two additional regional flights for Breather Breaks.
  • Career Development:You'll be appointed on a global open-ended contract, offering you job security, with opportunities to work in different MAG programmes, should you wish to develop a long term career with us.
