MAG has cleared a former battle area surrounding a Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) Tuberculosis Clinic in South Sudan, enabling MSF to construct extra buildings to improve health facilities in the area.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team started work in Nasir, Upper Nile State, by dividing the 9,600m2 of contaminated land into sections measuring 25m x 25m. The deminers then manually cleared it block by block.
Due to the violent history of the area, the team also searched for battle positions and underground bunkers, digging up to a metre down into the earth.
After seven days, the task was complete and MSF was ready to initiate the construction of the clinic buildings that will provide health service to the communities of Nasir.
