Aged just 35, MAG Director of Finance Susan Ni Chriodain has been included on a list of Manchester businessmen and women who have excelled at their profession before reaching 40.
Since she joined MAG two years ago, Susan has implemented an overhaul of the organisation’s entire financial system, completely clearing a backlog of work and introducing new software to keep better track of MAG’s many different funding streams.

"Finance is often forgotten about, like electricity. You don’t notice it when it works, but when it stops working you realise how crucial it is to keep everything going" - Susan Ni Chriodain, MAG Headquarters, Manchester, UK |
As a result, MAG can continue to expand its lifesaving clearance programmes knowing there is a financial system in place to support its work.
“When I arrived at MAG I drew a line in the sand,” she said.
“It
was just before the start of the financial year, so I said that from
the start of the next year everything was going to be done differently.
And it was.
“It took a while but I think attitudes have
changed, and all MAG staff know that the finance team are not just
crunching numbers; we are as dedicated as they are to achieving MAG’s
goals.”
Crain’s Manchester Business '40 Under 40' list celebrates some of the city’s highest achievers who have thrived in their line of work at an unusually young age.
Speaking of his pride at Susan’s successful nomination to the list, MAG’s Chief Executive Lou McGrath OBE said: “This is great news both for Susan and for MAG, and will go a long way to raising our profile as an innovative, active and professional northwest charity.
“The work Susan has done for MAG since she arrived has been amazing. I would like to pass sincere thanks to her, and all the finance team, for all their hard work in making it easier for MAG to continue saving lives and building futures for people all over the world.”
