Amputee MAG deminers in Cambodia

Today's photo celebrates the International Day of Disabled People.

In many conflict-affected countries, survivors of landmine and unexploded ordnance (UXO) accidents face limited job opportunities, especially if they have lost a limb.

MAG's inclusive approach ensures the poorest and most vulnerable people in communities are not only beneficiaries of clearance, but also have the opportunity to be gainfully employed in the process – and this includes training and employing amputees.

As deminers use metal detectors to search for landmines and UXO, standard prostheses (that contain metal components) would interfere with the detectors, so MAG supports the use of metal-free prosthetic legs in Cambodia to help amputees get back to work.

Donate: your generosity saves lives and helps amputees get back to work
