The second Luanda International School-MAG Golf Day on June 8th has raised approximately US$30,000 in support of MAG’s activities in Moxico province.
Following the success of the inaugural event in May 2007, Luanda International School (LIS) invited various companies working in Angola to sponsor a hole on the 'Campo de Golf de Luanda' course for US$1,000 or more, for which they could enter a four-player team on the day.

Raised through the generous support of the sponsors listed below, the money will directly support the operation of MAG’s mechanical units, funding the maintenance of heavy machines. These machines are essential for ground preparation before demining and are also used to reduce large parts of suspected mined areas, thereby increasing the amount of land that can be handed over to communities.
MAG Angola staff were present at the course to provide information on MAG’s activities and the general landmine context in the country, accompanied by a marked ‘minefield’ and an exhibition of demining and Mine Risk Education materials on display to participants while they registered to play.

Based on the success of the event, MAG aims to strength the partnership with LIS and with sponsors, and to continue to raise awareness of the problem of landmines and unexploded ordnance in Angola.
MAG would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Luanda International School for the tremendous effort its staff put into the preparation of the Golf Day.
