Support Services Manager - Iraq

£26,586 - £29,052 per annum (plus accommodation, per diem, insurance and flights)

Iraq is MAG's longest-established programme with over 850 national staff. Since the conflict in 2003, the programme has adapted and changed to respond to conflict recovery and socio-economic development needs at the community and regional levels. The programme headquarters is in Erbil supporting activities throughout Iraq.

The post of Support Services Manager is a new position and has been developed to support the Country Programme Manager who has overall managerial responsibility for the MAG Iraq programme. Based in Erbil and reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the Support Services Manager will be responsible for the development and management of support services systems including finance, logistics, IT, fleet management, administrative and human resource systems. This will involve establishing appropriate systems to ensure MAG Iraq complies with internal policies and procedures. Therefore, the post-holder will need demonstrable experience in the design, development and delivery of robust support systems that have improved programme efficiency.

The post-holder will also manage support services personnel and be responsible for developing an implementation plan to strengthen national staff capacity. The successful candidate will therefore have international experience of managing and developing a national staff team and have the ability to communicate with clarity and credibility. You will need to be flexible and proactive with the motivation to see changes through. Experience of working within IT or logistics would be a distinct advantage.

In addition the successful candidate will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Because of the political situation in Iraq, you also need to be able to demonstrate an awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner. Security in this part of Iraq is more stable than in other parts of the country, however living arrangements will involve limited movement and access to recreational activities is limited. As a result of the security conditions, the postholder will be living and working in close proximity to other MAG staff.
