Welcome to MAG's new teaching resources for schools and youth groups.
Along with educating the communities in which we work about the danger of mines and unexploded ordnance, we also have a duty to help educate children in the UK in areas related to our work.
With this in mind, we've created a new schools resource pack aimed at 9-13 year olds. Below you'll find eight lesson plans and all the resources required for each activity.
The project is designed to be taught as a whole, with an aim to develop students' knowledge of the global issues and development. Each lesson contains a PowerPoint presentation and additional teacher's lesson plan, and can be downloaded by clicking on the relevant links below.

Lesson Eight serves as an evaluation and assessment of progress, as students will present a campaign to their peers and a judging panel.
The lessons can be used as part of the Citizenship module, linking in to the wider topics of Rights and Responsibilities, and Global and Active Citizens.
The lessons also encourage ctirical thinking and enquiry skills. Students are required to to express their personal opinions, as well as work constructively in a team, provinding them with an opportunity to engage with their peers and explore global issues.
All activities can be adapted to suit the specific needs of learners. Throughout each lesson there is a focus on pair and group work to support the progress of all students, though if this format does not suit a particular class then activities can easily be altered.
School talks
We are able to provide a free school speaker within Manchester and the surrounding area. Due to the limited resources of our small team, unfortuately at this time we can't offer talks elsewhere in the country. Get in touch if you'd like a visitor from MAG for your assembly or a classroom lesson.
Raising funds
We hope you'll enjoy using the resources and they help to broaden students knowledge of conflict and humanitarian issues. We'd love it if you went on to fundraise for MAG, using the newly built-up knowledge and ethusiam from your pupils.
We can offer you support and materials with your fundraising – check out our Fundraising ideas for schools page!
And there's also a fabulous Schools fundraising pack to download.
