£22,792 - £24,906 per annum (plus accommodation and per diem)
Iraq is MAG's longest-established programme with over 900 national staff. Since the conflict in 2003, the programme has adapted and changed to respond to conflict recovery and socio-economic development needs at the community and regional levels. The programme headquarters is in Erbil supporting activities throughout Iraq.
Based in Erbil and reporting to the Country Programme Manager, the Programme Officer is responsible for monitoring projects and representing a compliant account of the programme and projects to stakeholders. The Programme Officer oversees report writing for a wide range of donors and will play a central role in external relations, representing MAG in Iraq and the region. The Programme Officer will work with colleagues to develop high-quality proposals to enable MAG to achieve its goals in Iraq. You will need previous experience in these areas of work. The post holds a central role on the Programme's Senior Management Unit and will work closely with the Technical Operations Manager, Project Managers, Information Management Officer and the Finance Manager. The ability to work in a dynamic team of national and international staff, to represent the organisation externally and produce written material of a high quality are essential. You must be able to prioritize a heavy workload to meet deadlines.
In addition the successful candidate will have experience of working overseas, preferably within the region and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently. Because of the political situation in Iraq, you also need to be able to demonstrate an awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner. Security in this part of Iraq is more stable than in other parts of the country, although living arrangements will involve limited movement. As a result the postholder will be living and working in close proximity with other MAG staff.
