Logistics and Finance Manager - Chad

(Fixed term for 12 months and subject to receipt of donor funding)

Salary: £26,586- £29,052 per annum (plus accommodation and per diem)

At MAG (Mines Advisory Group), we deliver practical and positive solutions that assist the process of peace and stability in both conflict and former conflict countries. Since 1989 we have safely found, removed and destroyed millions of landmines, small and large bombs, missiles and other tools of armed conflict. By freeing up millions of acres of land we are the precursor to the development and economic growth of conflict-affected countries throughout the Middle East, South East Asia, and Africa.

MAG restarted its operations in Chad in May 2008, with a new project aimed at clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance and abandoned ordnance contamination in central, eastern and southern parts of the country. We are currently recruiting for a Logistics and Finance Manager for our project in Chad. This role is based in N'Djamena, with regular visits to the field, and the successful candidate will be expected to start in the role by early June.

Reporting to the Project Manager, the postholder will be responsible for the day to day management of the country finances and logistical support. You will be responsible for producing internal and external financial reports, managing cashbooks and ensuring MAG's financial procedures are complied with. The postholder will also review and implement logistical systems, assess and establish logistical support structures and develop logistical and procurement procedures. Additionally you will be expected to maintain and develop the project's administrative and ICT systems.

You will need previous experience of working in both Logistics and Finance. In addition the successful candidate will require experience of working overseas, preferably within the region. You need to be able to demonstrate an awareness of personal security and cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner. French and English language skills are essential for this role.
