Leon Would's Death Valley Challenge!

Leon Would
My name is Leon Would and i work for Vodafone Retail in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent!

After seeing an advertisment for the Death Valley Cycle Challenge - a 250 mile cycle ride through one of the most extreme environments in the world -  i was instantly intruiged as to what this consisted of.  Being a person who is always up for a challenge i decided to investigate this event further, and in doing so have discovered the organisation known as MAG, of which i had no previous knowledge about.

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is one of the world's leading humanitarian organisations providing conflict-affected countries with a real chance for a better future".

MAG also believes that everyone affected by conflict has the right to have a peaceful and prosperous future.  However, these landmines are causing 18000 casualties a year, and a third of these are children.  Not only does this cause physical harm but can have other effects on the local surroundings, such as preventing access to essential supplies like water and farmland.

MAG expert carefully exposing a mineSimply put, it is estimated that there are up to 70 million landmines remaining in war-torn countries worldwide and MAG works to clear away these remnants of conflict, not just by physical means but also by educating the local people, to help provide solutions for the economic devastation and poverty they are a part of through no fault of their own.

I was initially drawn to this event because of the immense physical challenge it consisted of, but now having been made aware of the amazing work that MAG does i believe i now have a much greater reason for doing this.  I am honored to be associated with such an organisation, especially one that had the late Princess Diana as one of its most high-profile supporters, and i hope anyone who takes the time to read this page can provide me with sponsorship to aid me in my quest to complete this challenge.Leon Would

The minimum amount i need to raise is £2850, but i am looking to collect as much as possible to do what i can for MAG.  Any contributions are more than welcome and greatly appreciated!  To sponsor me online to cycle 263 miles across Death Valley, please click here.

Thank you!
