Congratulations to everyone who took part in our first Peak District Bike Ride on Sunday 6 June 2010.

Despite a soggy start you all did fantastically well on those hills and I hope the stunning views surrounding you and the exhilarating downhills more than made up for the steep climbs.

Which ever route you decided to tackle I hope you enjoyed the challenge, a huge thank you from MAG for taking part and supporting our vital work. Your efforts will help clear landmines and unexploded weapons in countries across the world and will make a real difference to the lives of those affected by conflict.

Please do try and maximise your fundraising potential, update your Justgiving page if you have one and send round those sponsor forms. The more money you can raise the bigger the difference we can make.

MAG fundraiser Lawrence Gibbons

Lawrence Gibbons

Lawrence cycled from Maidstone in Kent to Montignac in France for MAG and raised a whopping £1,304.59p! He says...

"The reason I chose to support MAG is because I saw first-hand the work they did in Laos, how effective it was and how they trained and used local people to carry on the efforts of education, and clearing and destroying munitions.

"Also, MAG is not just dealing with remnants of past conflicts, but tackles head-on challenges in current hotspots like Libya. Wars will never stop, but at least there is an organisation like MAG actively trying to reverse the tide of innocent civilians becoming the victims of deadly UXO.

"I want to say thank you to MAG's fundraising dept for all your help – I honestly don't think I'd have got the idea off the ground without your friendly advice and support every step of the way.

"To a charity event first-timer it was all very daunting and it was nice to know that you didn't just say 'Go and hassle people for money and get on yer bike!!'"
