Icelandic Lava Trek 22nd July - 26th July 2009

Level: Challenging

Iceland is home to active volcanos, sheer cliffs, glaciers, thundering waterfalls, steaming lava fields, plunging fjords, boiling mud pools and sprouting geysers! This is the stunning terrain that your challenge will cross.

You will walk the Landmannalaugar route across the Southern Higlands through one of the most actively volcanic areas in Iceland. Most striking of all is the sheer vastness of space with far reaching visability, clear northern air and the geological diversity of multi-coloured volcanic rocks.

Although this is a short European trek, don't be fooled into thinking it isn't challenging! The days are long, you will have to be prepared for some steep climbs and decents on rough ground, and you will be expected to get involved in helping to set up camp in the evenings. You can, however, unwind with a dip in the Blue Lagoon before returning home.

Registration fee £235. Minimum sponsorship £2,000.

For a registration pack email fundraising@maginternational.org or call +44 (0) 161 236 4311.

  Cuban Revolution Cycle 6th November - 15th November 2009

Level: Challenging

Your expedition begins in the capital and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Havana and ends by the Caribbean Sea in Trinidad some 350kms later. Much of Havana's old quarter remains untouched despite the various wars and revolutions that have taken place over the last 200 years. Most of the cars on the road are large American Chevys and Buicks from before the revolution, and buildings have remained untouched for more than half a century.

Outside of Havana, there are very few vehicles on the road and as Cuba has a strong biking culture, you will fit right in. You will pass village after village separated by colourful fruit orchards, sugar plantations and tree-lined avenues.

You will cycle through Cienfuegos, which sits in a bay facing the Carribean Sea and continue to the magnificent Sierra del Escambray, with Trinidad your final destination. Here you will rest your muscles before returning to Havana.

Registration fee £295. Minimum sponsorship £2,785.
