Dear all
If you could help to clear landmines from conflict zones, would you? Well, you can, if you join a partnership between you, me and Mines Advisory Group (MAG).
Your part is to make a donation.
My part is to cycle across Death Valley California; all 250 miles of it, in 5 days.
MAG's part is to use every penny you donate to clear mines and the remnants of conflict zones.
MAG is one of the world's leading humanitarian organisations providing conflict-affected countries with a real chance for a better future.
"We clear the remnants of conflict from some of the world's poorest nations, we educate and employ local people and help provide solutions for those trapped by poverty and economic devastation through no fault of their own."
For 2007 I challenge myself to learn to distance cycle, raise £3,000 for MAG and then cycle across Death Valley in California.

Your support of my challenge will enable MAG to worked on a variety of conflict-related projects in around 35 countries, supporting victims of conflict return to their homes. Local people are trained in removing the hundreds of life threating mines which prevent children from travelling to school and people from cultivating their land to feed their communities.
Operating since 1989 MAG is also co-laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded for their work with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines.
Since signing up I have come across a couple of problems that might hinder my progress somewhat:
• I only really have 3 months to hone my training to be able to cycle 120km’s in a day.
• I need to raise £3,000 by November 2007
I'm grateful of all the support I can get - so please dig deep! Every penny goes to the Mines Advisory Group and helps support the fantastic work that this organisation does.
Many thanks for your support and updates to follow to you via this site & letter after I have completed my challenge.
Cassandra
