Base Manager - RoC

 £24,475 - £26,745 per annum (plus accommodation, per diem, insurance and flights)

MAG's project in the Republic of Congo (RoC) aims to make a contribution to peace-keeping initiatives and security efforts through working with and building the capacity of the Forces Armées Congolaises (FAC) and the local population in the removal of UXO and delivery of Mine Risk Education. Having worked in RoC in 2009, MAG has recently re-established operations and is seeking a Base Manager to support operations restarting.

Based in Brazzaville and reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating logistics, procurement, financial and administrative services to support technical operations in the project. You will also be responsible for implementing new support systems and procedures in coordination with the Project Manager. Most importantly, you will be responsible for overseeing and supervising national staff including responsibility for their training and evaluation with a large capacity building element. The Base Manager will also be responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with donors, government agencies and NGOs.

You will need experience of working overseas in international aid or development including expertise in logistics, procurement, administration and finance, capacity building and management of national staff and monitoring and evaluation. You should have the ability to work within complicated national and international political frameworks, have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate diplomacy. Finally, you should have experience of implementing and administering management systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the project.

 Fluency in both French & English is required for this role.

This is a fixed term position until 31 January 2012

The salary band for this role is £24,475 - £26,745 plus per diem of circa US $14,000 per annum.  MAG will also provide accommodation, three international leave flights per year, and insurance, amongst other benefits.
