MAG hosts visit from the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development

On Friday 20 July, in cooperation with the Mine Action Coordination Centre South Lebanon, MAG hosted a visit from Ms. Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development and Member of the German Bundestag.

The Minister visited a cluster bomb strike in the village of Choukine, south Lebanon and met members of MAG Mine Action Teams 21 and 22 led by Technical Field Manager, Frank Masche. She was given a briefing about the cluster munition problem in this part of the country, visited a site being cleared by MAG and also wtinessed the destruction of a 155mm artillery shell, which can deliver 88 cluster munitions (64 x M42 and 24 x M46).
