A MAG explosives team has destroyed the first projectiles in a series of planned activities over the coming three to four months to dispose of all white phosphorus unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Gaza.
Two 155mm shells containing white phosphorus were safely destroyed in Gaza last week, in collaboration with the United Nations Mine Action Team (UNMAT) and the relevant authorities within Gaza and Israel.
MAG has been working with the United Nations since January 2009 to locate and remove UXO used during the most recent conflict in the Gaza Strip from within the rubble of buildings and agricultural lands.
