On 20 January, in Kanyosha Rural on the outskirts of Bujumbura, a joint MAG-Civilian Protection-Police team safely destroyed an extremely dangerous ‘POMZ A2’ anti-personnel mine. (10 March 2010)

Thousands of hand grenades destroyed in March
MAG, together with the Police Nationale Burundaise, destroyed 3,825
hand-grenades during March – a further contribution to reducing the
number of grenade attacks which
harm the Burundians on a daily basis. (28 April 09)
Supporting human security
Since August 2008, the joint MAG/PNB mobile team has collected more
than 2,500 weapons and 65,000 items of ammunition, and destroyed 2,483
weapons and 18,919 ammunition. (30 March 09)
Bomb cleared in Bujumbura
MAG has responded to a request for assistance from
the police station in Robero district, Bujumbura, because an aircraft
bomb had been found nearby. (8 October 08)
MAG supports Army in stockpile demolition
MAG has assisted the Burundian Army in demolishing 664 anti-personnel mines, at the request of MACC (Mine Action and Coordination Centre)-Burundi UN Chief Technical Advisor. (29 July 08)
30 MANPADS destroyed
The US State Department's Deputy Assistant Secretary for Political-Military Affairs visited the Burundian army-operated demolition range outside Bujumbura yesterday to witness the destruction of 30 SAM7 Grail MANPADS devices. (4 July 08)
Project begins with MANPADS destruction
MAG has assisted the Burundian army in destroying 104 Man-Portable Air Defence Systems, marking the first phase of an eight-month project to support the Government of Burundi in reducing the threat from small arms and light weapons and unsecured stockpiles in the country.
